Galax L., Gattung der Diapensiazeen mit der einzigen Art G. aphylla L., eine Staude mit dichter, immergrüner Rosette, aus herzförmigen, gekerbten Blättern und weißen Blüten in langen Ähren, wächst in bewaldeten Gebirgen von Virginien bis Georgia. Die Blätter sind im Winter prächtig braunrot, sehr haltbar und werden als geschätztes Bindematerial auch bei uns benutzt. Sie werden besonders aus Nordcarolina ausgeführt.
