Epistŏlae formātae (lat.), formulierte oder schematisierte Briefe, in den ältesten Zeiten der christlichen Kirche Empfehlungsbriefe, die wandernde Brüder von der einen Gemeinde an die andre erhielten. Sie wurden vom Bischof oder Presbyter im Namen der Gemeinde ausgestellt und nach einem bestimmten Schema abgefaßt, daher der Name.
