Ellor

Ellor (Eluru), Stadt im Distrikt Godaweri der britisch-ind. Präsidentschaft Madras, Sitz einer evangelischen und kath. Mission, mit (1891) 29,382 Einw. (meist Hindu), die Teppiche und Salpeter herstellen und bedeutenden Baumwollhandel treiben. Die Stadt gibt einem 144 km langen, von den Engländern angelegten, durch Abdämmung der Godaweri (s. d.) gespeisten Kanal den Namen.
