Eleuthera (Royal Island), eine der brit. Bahamainseln (Westindien), ist 130 km lang, 15 km breit, bis 40 m hoch, 619 qkm groß, mit 7500 Bewohnern. Orangen, Ananas, Kokosnüsse sind Hauptprodukte, Erwerbszweige namentlich Fischerei und Schiffahrt. Hauptort ist Governors Harbour, mit gutem Ankerplatz, Zollhaus und Fruchtpräservenindustrie. Am Nordende von E. liegt die kleine Insel Harbour Island, mit gutem Hafen und dem Städtchen Dunmoretown.
