Comma, Johanneum

Comma, Johanneum (lat., »johanneischer Satzabschnitt«), Bezeichnung der in 1. Joh. 5,7 zur Begründung des Trinitätsdogmas eingefügten Worte: »Drei sind, die da zeugen im Himmel: der Vater und das Wort und der Heilige Geist, und die drei sind Eins«. Die Interpolation taucht seit dem 4. Jahrh. in der spanischen und der afrikanischen Kirche auf und ist am Ende des Mittelalters auch in griechische Handschriften eingedrungen. In Luthers eigner Übersetzung fehlt sie, die Vulgata hat sie beibehalten, und Leo XIII. hat 15. Febr. 1897 entschieden, daß die Echtheit des C. nicht ohne Gefahr geleugnet oder bezweifelt werden könne.
