Amt Finnmarken, auf der nur 6 km langen, schmalen, durch den Bussesund vom Festland getrennten Insel V. im N. des Varangerfjords gelegen, mit Hafen, Transiedereien, Ausfuhr von Fischen, Tran, Guano und (1900) 2597 Einw. V. ist Sitz eines deutschen Vizekonsuls. Dabei die kleine Festung Vardöhus.
