Typhoïd

Typhoïd, das (griech, »typhusähnlich«), Bezeichnung verschiedener Krankheitszustände. 1) Der Unterleibstyphus (engl. typhoid fever, franz. fièvre typhoïde, s. Typhus 2). 2) Das biliöse T., früher als besondere Krankheitsform beschrieben, ist jetzt als schwere Form des Rückfallfiebers erkannt, indem man die für das letztere charakteristischen Spirillen im Blute der Kranken nachwies. Es tritt bei diesem sogen. T. von Anfang der Krankheit an eine schwere Gelbsucht auf, die nicht auf Störung der Gallenabsonderung oder des Gallenabflusses, sondern auf Blutzersetzung beruht, die in kurzer Zeit den Tod des Kranken bedingt. 3) Das Choleratyphoid (s. Cholera, S. 88). – T. des Geflügels, s. Geflügelcholera.
