Trichophyton Malmst., unvollständig bekannter Pilz von unsicherer systematischer Stellung, dessen gegliederte Mycelfäden in oïdienartige Brutzellen zerfallen. T. tonsurans Malmst. lebt als Schmarotzer im erkrankten Haarboden des Menschen und der Tiere und verursacht das Kahlwerden. T. plicae polonicae Günsbg. ist bei der als Weichselzopf bezeichneten Haarkrankheit des Menschen im Haarkanal gefunden worden.
