Týrnavos, Hauptort der gleichnamigen Eparchie im griechischen Nomos Larissa (Thessalien), am nördlichen Ufer des Xerias (Europos), dessen als Eingangspforte aus der Türkei wichtiges Tal sie beherrscht, ist nur 3 km von der türkischen Grenze entfernt, hat Baumwoll- und Seidenweberei, belebte Vieh- und Wollmesse und (1896) 5528 (als Gemeinde 11,960) Einw. Im April 1897 fochten in der Nähe die Türken siegreich gegen die Griechen.
