Subalpine Region, diejenige Vegetationszone der Alpen, die zwischen der Bergregion mit ihren Laub- und Nadelwäldern und der alpinen Region mit Krummholz und Alpenrosen und Wiesen von Alpenkräutern liegt, charakterisiert durch Mischwälder mit vorherrschenden Fichten und reichlichem Unterholz, Gras- und Felsenfluren, in denen die Kräuter des Bergwaldes neben denen der Hochgebirgsflora gemischt auftreten.
