Second

Second (spr. ßögóng), Albéric, franz. Dichter, geb. 17. Juni 1817 in Angoulême, gest. 2. Juni 1887 in Paris, war 1848–50 Unterpräfekt von Castellane (Niederalpen), schloß sich dann dem Kaiserreich an, das ihn vielfach protegierte (worüber in den Tuilerienpapieren Erbauliches zu lesen) und ihm den Posten eines Regierungskommissars am Odéontheater übertrug. Als Dichter ist S. mit Romanen und Dramen hervorgetreten, die sich über die Mittelmäßigkeit erheben. Die erstern haben meist einen phantastischen Anstrich, so: »Lettres cochinchinoises sur les hommes et les choses du jour« (1841); »Mémoires d'un poisson rouge« (1842); »Les petits mystères de l'Opéra« (1844); »La semaine des quatre jeudis« (1872); »La vicomtesse Alice« (1873, auch dramatisiert); »Les demoiselles Du Ronçay« (1874) und »Le roman de deux bourgeois« (1879). Von seinen Theaterstücken, die er meist mit Hilfe von Mitarbeitern schrieb, verdienen Erwähnung: »Un dragon de vertu« (1839), »Le droit d'aînesse« (1842), »English spoken« (1855), »Une vendetta parisienne« (1869). Mit der neuen Republik stand er auf gespanntem Fuß.
