Schoterland (spr. ß-choterland), Gemeinde in der niederländ. Provinz Friesland, 15,249 Hektar groß, im SO. begrenzt durch die Tjonger oder Kuinder, besteht aus 19 Dörfern, unter denen Heerenveen (s. d.) das vornehmste ist, und hat (1904) 14,923 Einw., die pou Ackerbau, Viehzucht und Torfstich leben.
