Propylaldehyd (Propanal, Propionaldehyd) C3H6O oder CH3.CH2.CHO entsteht bei Oxydation von primärem Propylalkohol und von Proteinkörpern, auch bei Destillation von propionsaurem mit ameisensaurem Kalk, bildet eine farblose Flüssigkeit, riecht erstickend, spez. Gew. 0,804 bei 17°, siedet bei 49°, löst sich in Wasser und gibt bei Oxydation Propionsäure.
