Petworth (spr. pett-nörth), alte Marktstadt in West-Sussex (England), 22 km nordöstlich von Chichester, auf einer Anhöhe unweit des Westrother, mit gotischer Kirche, altertümlichen Häusern des 16. und 17. Jahrh., Getreide- und Viehhandel und (1901) 2503 Einw. Dabei Petworth House, Landsitz des Lord Leconfield (an Stelle eines alten Schlosses der Familie Percy 1730 errichtet), mit Gemäldegalerie und großem Park.
