Paradóxa

Paradóxa (griech.) heißen bei den stoischen Philosophen solche Sätze, die, besonders für Uneingeweihte, durch ihre seltsame Fassung auffallend und sogar dem gesunden Sinn widerstreitend erscheinen, bei näherm Eingehen aber sich als wahr und wohlbegründet zeigen. Nach Rousseau sind P. Wahrheiten, die hundert Jahre zu früh erscheinen. Daher Paradoxie, Seltsamkeit und auffallende Sonderbarkeit in Meinungen, kühnen (paradoxen) Behauptungen etc., und Paradoxomanie, die Sucht, Paradoxen zu behaupten oder sonderbare, gegen allgemein anerkannte Grundsätze verstoßende Sätze aufzustellen.
