Bunker Hill

Bunker Hill, ein 35 m hoher Hügel in der Nähe von Boston, jetzt innerhalb der Stadt Charlestown gelegen. Hier siegten die an Zahl und Bewaffnung überlegenen Engländer unter General Gage 17. Juni 1775 über die Republikaner unter Oberst Prescott; General Warren fiel beim Rückzug. Ein an dieser Stelle 17. Juni 1843 errichteter 70 m hoher Obelisk erinnert an den Tag.
