Newark upon Trent (spr. njū-ark-), Stadt (municipal borough) in Nottinghamshire (England), am Trent, mit Ruinen eines berühmten Schlosses aus dem 12. Jahrh. (König Johann starb hier 1216), der gotischen Maria Magdalena-Kirche (1855 von G. Scott restauriert), einem hübschen Rathaus, Grafschaftshaus, Kornbörse, Brauereien, Eisen- und Metallgießerei, Getreide-, Vieh- und Käsehandel und (1901) 14,992 Einw. Inder Nähe Gips- und Kalksteinbrüche.
