Glave: Glave (spr. glēw), Edward James, Afrikareisender, geb. 1863 in England, gest. 22. Mai 1895 in Afrika, folgte 1883 Stanley zum Kongo, verwaltete sechs Jahre lang die Station Lukolela, begab sich dann nach Amerika und unternahm zwei Reisen nach Alaska. Im Auftrage des »Century Magazine« kehrte er 1893 zum Studium des Sklavenhandels nach Afrika zurück, zog von der Ostküste zum Kongo und diesen abwärts zur Mündung, starb aber in Matadi. Er veröffentlichte unter andern: »In savage Africa, or six years of adventure in Congo-land« (mit Einleitung von Stanley, Lond. 1892).
