Aird (spr. ǟrd), Thomas, schott. Dichter und Schriftsteller, geb. 28. Aug. 1802 zu Bowden in Roxburghshire, gest. 25. April 1876 in Edinburg, studierte daselbst, wurde Journalist und schrieb »The old bachelor in the old Scottish village« (1845, neue Ausg. 1857), eine Sammlung von Erzählungen aus dem schottischen Volksleben. Seine »Poetical works« (darunter das populär gewordene »The devil's dream«) erschienen in Edinburg (5. Aufl. 1878).
